IMPORTANT MESSAGE:
The NNAR (National Nurse Aide Registry) was decommissioned in the WV CARES system after business hours on Friday, September 13, 2024.
This change affects our state's application workflow. Changes include:
- State Registry Requirement: Your state's Nurse Aide Registry (NAR) will now be a mandatory part of the process.
- State-Specific Searches: The registries of other states will only be accessed if they are relevant to the current or prior addresses provided in the application. This is consistent with how out-of-state registries are currently handled.
- Public Web Searches: All nurse aide registry checks (except those against your own state registry) will now be conducted via public web searches, rather than through automated matches.
This also means that the NNAR will no longer appear on your required monthly Registry Recheck Reports.
IMPORTANT MESSAGE:
IF AN INDIVIDUAL SHOWS UP ON ANY REGISTRY, YOU MUST VERIFY THE INFORMATION AND IF IT IS A MATCH YOU MUST WITHDRAW THE APPLICATION IMMEDIATELY AND INFORM THE INDIVIDUAL THAT THEY ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO WORK UNDER THE WV CARES CODE. ANY PROVIDER THAT KNOWINGLY CLEARS AN INDIVIDUAL THAT SHOWS UP ON ANY REGISTRY, ONCE IT IS VERIFIED AS THE SAME INDIVIDUAL, IS IN VIOLATION OF THE WV CARES RULE AND WILL BE SUBJECT TO PENALTIES.
The updated WV CARES legislative rule 64 CSR123 effective 5.3.2024 is now available under the blue HELP link in the upper right corner of our website. EVERY WVC PROVIDER should review this link.
05.03.2024 The application/administrative fee has increased to $25.00 per WV CARES legislative rule 64 CSR 123 which is in effect as of TODAY.
05.03.2024 - If you are having difficulty with the WV CARES website, please try another Internet Browser to access our website. We have had multiple reports of difficulty by those using FireFox.
7/24/2023 - We have been informed by the WVSP that IdentoGo WILL ACCEPT the temporary paper identification card/driver's license issued from the DMV. If you have a specific location that will not accept these documents, please provide us with the fingerprinting location and the agent's identifying information. If possible, have your applicant contact WVC while at the fingerprinting site, so we can attempt to resolve the confusion immediately, and their fingerprinting can occur at that time. Idemia/IdentoGo will no longer accept expired forms of Identification.

* If appointments are not available at your location, you may use a neighboring county
* IDEMIA may apply additional fees if an applicant is fingerprinted in another state
